Abstract

Human rights protection and artificial intelligence: a critical analysis of the european regulation on dual-use items
This article aims to assess the effectiveness of human rights protection within the framework of EU regulation on dual-use items. It begins by exploring how the European legislator has progressively integrated human rights considerations into the regulation of these items. The article then addresses the ongoing limitations within the current regulatory landscape. In particular, it examines the ability of European legislation to ensure legal certainty, which is essential for fostering a consistent application that upholds human rights. Consequently, this study enhances our understanding of the interplay between human rights protection and common European trade policy.
